Pink Ringtail Possum! by RhiannonWoolf Pink Ringtail Possum! by RhiannonWoolf
This is a fully poseable handmade Pink Ringtail Possum!

Its face and paws are hand sculpted 'sculpey' clay that I have hand painted with fine brushes and quality acrylic paints. I created it from faux fur (fake fur) on a possible wire frame covered  in soft stuffing making it very soft and cuddly!

No casts, moulds, patterns or anything of the sort are used, as a result this is a completely unique and original piece!
Please respect the fact hours of work went into this piece, as a result it is designed as a display sculpture not a child's toy.

how where you able yo put the faux on the face? I have seen many other poseable dolls that have either clay faces or faces with fur on them. I designing a poseable fox doll and I would really like to put faux on the face, but I really don't know how to do it. Could you give me some tips?

   happy new year!

Normally I have a tutorial available here on deviantart but I have recently removed it so I can make a new tutorial for my website.
I am still in the process of finishing the website but hope to finish by the end of the week, if you are interested the tutorial should be up by Friday.

But in the mean time - I sculpt my faces , paint them then I use a clear drying craft glue to connect the fur to the face.

Method:   I cut small portions of the'fur' off the fabric backing, place a small amount of glue on the face and spread it slightly with my finger, then I gently press the cut fur ends into the glue, once dry I gently run my finger over the glued fur to remove any loose strands.

Tips:   Do a few test on some paper or a rock from the garden to see how the glue moves, how quickly it dries, how strongly the fur sticks to it.  Don't completely press your fur down when gluing as you want the ends to remain fluffy. And 'baby wipes' are a great thing to have around as they easily remove the glue from your fingers

Little Pixel Heart   i hope this was a little helpful  - if you have any other questions please feel free to ask! and have fun creating! Tard Boogie - now a plz

Are those glass eyes? If so how do you put them on? Im assuming you can't bake the clay with the eyes in it. Did you leave eye openings so you could push them through the back?

Thanks hun.

Btw very very cute!

in this sculpture they are glass eyes (all the others are hand painted clay). This was when I was experimenting what clay's I liked and I used air drying clay for its face. I don't recommend air drying clay as it doesn't seem to be as strong, is very messy and you cant get the same detail as baked clay Hug
