Why I Disappeared.

Journal Entry: Fri May 12, 2017, 6:42 AM

Ok, so obviously, I have been away for a long time and I contemplated not telling people why, however given time I have come to the conclusion its nothing to be ashamed off.

Initially I was pregnant. Happily, ecstatically pregnant. A combination of long working days and evening ‘morning’ sickness left me too exhausted to do anything other than get home and relax. I was healthy, my baby boy was healthy, everything was perfect … right up until it wasn’t.

His heartbeat was so strong, but he didn’t survive labour. I can still remember the doctors face when she looked at me and said, “I am so sorry”.

Grief touches every part of your life. It changes easy things into hard things, small things into big things. But grief is beautiful, grief is all the love you want to give but cannot, grief is love with no place to go.

We never found out what went wrong.

But I know I am lucky, lucky that my work has been so supportive of me. Lucky that I was able to see, hold and say goodbye to my child. Lucky that the relationship with my partner has grown stronger through this tragedy. Lucky that I have the memory of endless days where my little boy kicked in my tummy.

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard – Winnie the Pooh

*********

My partner and I have since spent the past however many months in the safari parks of South Africa.
Now home in Australia, Africa's wildlife has inspired me to start creating again.
Albeit slowly, but surely.

About the artist:
Creating is like an exciting adventure, I never know where it will take me or what I will create. I consider it a privilege to be able to share my art and teach others what I have spent so long teaching myself.
I have been working on new techniques allowing my creations to be more sculpture and less plush. The resulting sculptures, puppets and maquettes are as soft as ever, have solid torsos with flexible extremities enabling the creatures to be posed into lifelike positions.

My aim is to blur the lines between ‘plush’ and ‘sculpture’, ‘real’ and ‘fantasy’.”

About the person:
“I am nothing special, what I know I have learnt through endless hours of trial and error. I have a love of learning, the dedication to practice and a true passion for my art. I didn’t study at an art school nor have I been lucky enough to be tutored by an artist. I create because it is what I love doing”.

“Never be afraid to create.
Don’t strive to be ‘perfect’, there is no such thing.
Fight to be better.
Better than you where yesterday, better than you will be tomorrow.
Be the best you can be.
Create to the best of your ability”

Sorry to bother you. You used to have some tutorials? I wanted to share a link to them for a friend, but I can't seem to find them anymore. Have they been deleted?
